About Troop 636
Troop 636 meets the first and third Tuesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Rancho Santa Margarita, California at the Trabuco Presbyterian Church, 31802 Las Amigas Dr, Trabuco Canyon, CA 92679. We meet regularly throughout the school year for Troop Meetings and relax on the meetings to focus more on various summertime activities.
Leadership
Troop 636 is boy-led. Our Senior Patrol Leaders are elected every 6 months who provide a vision for the troop. Troop Guides, Instructors and Patrol Leaders are a key component to leading by example and engaging participation.
First Class Emphasis
We have a measured an steady approach to moving our scouts along their trail to Eagle, but it is not a race. We ramp up the scouts with a robust onboarding campout and Troop Guides work with the scouts to reach First Class in about 1.5 years.
Camping
We start off your scouting journey with a First Class Skills Campout focused on getting the scour immersed in the outdoor experience. We have a variety of campouts throughout the year ranging from near and far including snow camping in Big Bear, fun camping in Falcon Group and Webelos recruitment camping locally.
High Adventure
Have you ever been rock climbing in Joshua Tree? We go at least every other year. Interested in backpacking trips in the High Sierra? We do short and long term backpacking. Local hiking; ocean fishing, snow sports in the winter. Whatever the youth are interested in, we work to make it happen.
Service Projects
Working with our Chartered Org, we participate in several Rotary Cub service projects throughout the year. We have done trail building and conservation projects. Many Eagle Scout service projects available each year. Our troop is also strong with the Order of the Arrow - the Honor Society of Scouts and they focus on cheerful service.

- Do you like STEM? We regularly head out to the desert to launch rockets. We also promote Imagineology participation.
- Do you like games and staying up all night? We have an annual All-Night Game Night for dusk-to-dawn fun.
- Looking to complete your merit badges? We have many Merit Badge Counselors in-troop and for most Eagle Required merit badges.
- Want a troop with a large Eagle's Nest? We have over 165 Eagles over our nearly 30 years and continue to grow.
Getting Started
We welcome all bridging Webelos Scouts, and look forward to helping them make the transition to Scouts go smoothly. Our older Scouts lend a hand, mentor, and teach younger Scouts new skills. We also welcome boys who are new to Scouting, and will support them on their trail to First Class and beyond. You can find more specific Troop information on our New Parent page.
